A Video Tour of Frederiksted, US Virgin Islands

Fredricksted is a historical town and was the first place in the Danish West Indies now known as the U.S. Virgin Islands where Slavery was abolished on July 3, 1848. It was later the center of the “Fireburn” a Labor Revolt executed by four female laborers known as “the Queens.” The most famous of the four being  Mary Thomas better known as “Queen Mary.”  The Centerline Highway a common route running East to West in the middle of St. Croix, is also known as the Queen Mary Highway as this was the road used to burn several plantations during the Labor Revolt of 1878. Fredricksted plays host annually to the Crucian Christmas Carnival and is the docking port for Cruise Ships that visit the island. Please enjoy the video below!
