*Zoe Saldana is showing off her agility as an actress with her latest production, “Colombiana.”
She tells the NY Daily News that the tough role was something she was ready for, as well as the guns.
“I grew up around a family of hunters in the Caribbean and guns were always around,” she says. “Now, I obviously didn’t know about all the weapons used in this movie, but that allowed me to create my own sort of swagger.”
But her role wasn’t without controversy.
Some Colombians are sharing their resentment because Zoe is a Puerto Rican and Dominican woman playing the role of a Colombian. They are also upset because the movie is so violent.
“Just because I’m Dominican doesn’t mean I can only play Dominican roles.” She did play a blue tree-swinging princess quite well. Noting Pam Grier and Sigourney Weaver as icons who inspire her, Saldana says, “These badass women always deliver great roles and never compromise their art form.”
Just in case you haven’t heard Javier Colon has been declared “the Voice”! Colon was awarded the title, a contract with Universal Republic, and $100K in cash at last night’s finale of season 1 of “The Voice.” The Voice is a reality performance show on NBC that is considered a rival of the very popular “American Idol.”
Hand picked by Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, Colon’s talent was apparent from the jump. In last night’s finale Colon took to the stage and performed “Landslide” a duet with Stevie Nicks in addition to an original song entitled “Stitch by Stich.” Judge and mentor, Adam Levine deemed the performance “one of the most beautiful duets I’ve ever heard in my life.”
Host Carson Daly announced that the voting was incredibly close, with less than 2% separating the winner from the runner up. The top two contestants with the most votes were Dia Frampton and Javier Colon. Colon, who’s had his share of ups and down in the music industry, was emotional in his victory. With tears in his eyes, Javier shouted out “the three women behind me” who made it to the finals with him. His coach Adam Levine engulfed him in a big hug. The Maroon 5 frontman was ecstatic over Colon’s win.

The singer/actress sat on the panel of the talent show alongside Aerosmiths Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson this year and has since gone on to relaunch her music career with new album Love?, her first record since 2007s Brave.
Lopez, who is also working on her own Latin TV talent show, has yet to sign up for the next series of American Idol, and admits she is not sure if it is the right career move for her.
She tells Britains Radio 1, “I dont know, I dont know (whether to go back). I havent been forced to make a decision (yet) and Im glad about that because, honestly, Im very on the fence about it.
“I had an amazing time doing it and I loved it, but I have a lot of other things happening. Its going to come down to making a choice of what I want to do for the next year. Were not really at the breaking point of like, You have to make a decision right now! – so Im not. Im enjoying the time of just waiting.”
But Lopez admits she could be heading back to the big screen – as she is in talks to take on a new film role, which begins filming later this year.
She adds, “Yes, Im thinking about doing one (a film) actually in September. Im heavily into it, deciding. I miss acting – I did TV this year, I did the Idol thing, Ive been working on my music for two years and so I havent done a movie in a minute and then you realise two years have gone by since a movie. I really, really miss it. I wanna get back to it really soon.”

Fat Joe has taken a turn for the better as he recently dropped 100 pounds and I must say he is really slim! This recent weight loss seems to have finalized his overall weight goal as he lost around 80 pounds taking his weight from 370 to 290 pounds back in 2005. He recently shed these new pounds within a matter of months and according to an inside source he was forced to lose the weight for “health reasons.” According to Joe, he was inspired to get healthy after watching an episode of ‘The Oprah Show.’ “All of [the people on Oprah] lost like 100 pounds. I was like, ‘Oh my God, I gotta’ get on this diet,’” he said. He dropped the weight by cutting back on carbohydrates, fried foods and working out daily. “What really scares me the most is that I really love to eat. Me being Puerto Rican and not eating rice and beans — it’s hard!”
In a new music video for the song ‘Drop a Body,’ which premiered on WorldStarHip-Hop.com, Joey Crack shows off his new “body” and indeed looks like a whole new man. That slim guy was hiding inside of him all this time. The Terror Squad ambassador has not yet commented on his drastic weight loss however, it’s hard to dismiss the fact that one of the influences for his new “healthy decision” was probably because in 2000 he lost his best friend, Big Pun. Pun weighed 700 pounds at the time of his death and suffered from a severe heart attack that caused respiratory. Pun’s death literally hit home for Fat Joe and many of his friends and family so I’m almost certain that many of his peers respect his transformation and ultimate pledge to live and be healthy. In the meantime, the Puerto Rican papi should definitely consider changing his name.
