Rihanna: Cheers (Drink to That) | Video

Yesterday Rihanna premiered her latest video Cheers Drink to That off of her Loud album features Avril Lavigne. Lavigne infuses the track with those “Yeah, Yeah’s” heard throughout the song. The video features footage of Rihanna on tour as well as cameos by Jay-Z and Kanye West. In what appears to be a message to encourage drunken behavior, We encourage our readers to drink responsibly and have a great weekend.

Rihanna & Jay-Z: Perform Run This Town & Umbrella at Izod Center



Rihanna fans were treated to a special encore performance during her concert at the the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Mentor Jay-Z arose from the stage on a circular platform and the two enticed fans with their hits Run this Town and the Umbrella (Remix).

Rihanna: Seals Barbados Deal

Pop princess Rihanna, one of the best-selling artists of all time with more than 30 million records and 100 million singles sold, has signed a three-year deal with The Barbados Tourism Authority (BTA) to exclusively promote Barbados as a tourist destination.

In a press release today, it stated that the three-year partnership officially kicks off in Barbados on August 5, 2011 with a full-length concert of her current “Loud” tour produced by the BTA and Roc Nation.

“Barbados is a place like no other and one of the reasons for this is the spirit and national pride of our people,” said Rihanna. “I want each and every visitor to this beautiful island to experience what makes this destination different from all others and that is the spirit and warmth of my fellow Barbadians.”

The BTA release further noted that as an ambassador for Barbados, over the next three years, Rihanna will exclusively promote the destination through advertising campaigns, promotional appearances and via her social media presence. In addition to her concert in Barbados this summer, Rihanna will promote travel to the island from Brazil during her appearance on tour in September.

“In the hearts of every Barbadian, Rihanna is known as the girl down the road, but to the world she has become a musical sensation and social phenomenon,” said Minister of Tourism, Richard L. Sealy. “She is a great source of national pride to Barbados and we are thrilled to enter into this formal partnership to promote Barbados as a leading tourist destination.”


Rihanna: “Man Down” Video & Controversy

Rihanna is back with yet another controversial video. Her latest single “Man Down” opening scene shows a young man being shot in the back of the head. The video also includes scenes of sexual assault. The song premiered on Tuesday on BET’s 106 & Park. The singer received backlash from  the Parents Television Council called the clip “disturbing” and asked BET to stop airing it. On Thursday, Rihanna appeared on the show and said the video is “art with a message”. We just wanted to hone in on a very serious matter that people are afraid to address, especially if you’ve been victimized in this scenario.”

“Man Down” filmed in Jamaica was directed by Anthony Mandler, who has directed other Rihanna videos. Rihanna stated she didn’t intend to make a controversial music video. She was hoping to display her acting skills and create “something raw and artistic”.

BET reps have stated that the network will continue to play the video, explaining that the network “has a comprehensive set of standards and guidelines that are applied to all of our content” and that Rihanna’s video “complied with these guidelines and was approved for air”. MTV has not aired the video yet and reps have stated that the video is being reviewed. The video also has yet to debut on Itunes.

Rihanna: Today Show Summer Concert Series Performance

At The Plaza at Rockefeller Center, Rihanna kicked of the Today show’s summer concert series with a set of high-energy performances.

Things got off to shaky start when a fan grabbed the singer as she made her entrance while singing S&M.  Rihanna appeared unfazed by the incident and continued singing. She also performed Only Girl In The WorldWhat’s My Name and California King Bed.

During her interview segment, the singer spoke with Matt Laurer and Meredith Vieira about how her life as changed since she last appeared on the morning chat show in June 2008.

“I’m 20 times busier, I can’t complain,” she said. “There’s a lot of life experiences, a lot of great things that have happened since I was 20 years old.”

She also addressed her recent Billboard Music Awards performance with Britney Spears, that some called a little too racy.

“Nothing popped out!” she said with a laugh. “There are some people who will think that was too sexy, but you’re always going to find that.”

Rihanna might have also raised a few eyebrows with her seductive dancing that saw her caressing her bod on stage and featured plenty of booty shaking. (Access Hollywood)
