Cruzan Confusion Cocktail Recipe

Cruzan Rum Distillery is located on the island of St. Croix and has been ran by the Nelthropp family for several generations. Located in Fredricksted the distillery has been producing rum since 1760 during the sugar heydays of the Danish West Indies. The currently produce 4 dark rums, 1 light rum, and 9 fruit-flavored rums, and 1 rum cream. I will expand a bit more on Cruzan Rum’s history in a future blog but for right now…I’d like to bring attention to one of their famous cocktails the Cruzan Confusion. This drink has been made famous by part-time St. John Resident and notable country singer Kenny Chesney. Its called a Cruzan Confusion because of the various Cruzan Rums.

A Video Tour of Frederiksted, US Virgin Islands

Fredricksted is a historical town and was the first place in the Danish West Indies now known as the U.S. Virgin Islands where Slavery was abolished on July 3, 1848. It was later the center of the “Fireburn” a Labor Revolt executed by four female laborers known as “the Queens.” The most famous of the four being  Mary Thomas better known as “Queen Mary.”  The Centerline Highway a common route running East to West in the middle of St. Croix, is also known as the Queen Mary Highway as this was the road used to burn several plantations during the Labor Revolt of 1878. Fredricksted plays host annually to the Crucian Christmas Carnival and is the docking port for Cruise Ships that visit the island. Please enjoy the video below!
